Both youngsters from Cibona and Mega Vizura have been nominated by FIBA Europe for the Young Men's Player of the Year award and found their spot in the 10 most talented players in their generation in Europe. You can vote for them at FIBA Europe website HERE.

Micić's wonderful summer continues in ABA League

The first reward of the 2013 summer for Vasilije Micić was a place on the U19 World Championship All-Tournament team, assuring Serbia made back-to-back appearances in the final with 12.9 points a game and 4.8 assists. His performances were enough to impress Dušan Ivković who gave him a spot on his roster for EuroBasket. Far from being just a spectator, the point guard was thrown into a much bigger role following the late withdrawal of Milos Teodosic, running the plays for 14 minutes a night. Micic is now averaging 11.7 points, 6.3 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals in ABA League.

Šarić already Cibona's key player

Following on from playing his first full season of senior men's basketball, Dario Šarić turned his attentions to the U19 World Championship - his second appearance - leading Croatia to the quarter finals with 20.3 points, 11.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists - second-best in all three categories. His summer was just beginning with a stint at EuroBasket still awaiting, playing nearly 18 minutes-a-night as Croatia made a run to the semi-finals. This season he is one of the main players on the roster of Cibona Zagreb, where he is averaging 13.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals in ABA League.

Three former ABA League players candidates for Men's Player of the Year award

Besides the two above mentioned, Croatian and Serbian jewels, which can become European Young Player of the Year, there are three players, who are candidates to become European Men's Player of the year - Bojan Bogdanović, Goran Dragić and Nikola Vučević - that were all gaining invaluable experience at the beginning of their professional careers, playing for ABA League teams, Cibona, Union Olimpija and Budućnost VOLI.

ABA League on the top when it comes to talent development

At the same time this is an important recognition for ABA League, which is strenghtening its reputation as one of the best talent development leagues in Europe and also in the whole World. It's worth mentioning that only Spanish ACB League has more of it's players nominated for the European Young Player of the Year award than ABA League, with 3 players on the list.
