Široki Primorka named Jakša Vulić new coach

The fifth defeat in a row forced Široki Primorka to make the move in the coaching position and on Monday Damir Vujanović was replaced with Jakša Vulić, who will lead teh team against Krka on Sunday.

Vulić, who was so far the assistant coach in Cedevita, was a logical choice after he alreday has three experiences with coaching Široki in ABA League. First he was there in 2003/04, when the club won the double crown (national championship and national cup) in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Two years later he came back to the club and won the national cup while for the third time he was coaching the junior team and produced numerous players for the senior team.

"We thank our former coach for a very fair cooperation. He is a young and talented coach, who still needs some further coaching education so we will offer him to be the assistant coach. We are aware that one of the reasons for so many defeats is a tough schedule and the strong league. It is also possible that we will make some changes in the team," said the club's president Ante Suton.

Jakša Vulić novi trener Širokog Primorke

Damir Vujanović više nije trener košarkaša Širokog Primorke. Poslije petog u nizu, a ukupno šestog poraza u sezonu klupska uprava Širokog odlučila se za promjenu trenera. Umjesto Vujanovića novi trner Širokog je zagrebački Splićanin Jakša Vulić, koji je do sada bio asistent Jasminu Repeši u Cedeviti. "Zahvaljujemo dosadašnjem treneru Damiru Vujanoviću na jako korektnoj suradnji, smatramo da je Damir veoma mlad i perspektivan trener i da mu je potrebna dodatna trenerska edukacija, pa ćemo mu zato ponuditi mjesto pomoćnog trenera. Svjesni smo da je glavni razlog loših rezultata težak raspored, jaka liga i kvaliteta naše momčadi. Kad se Jakša Vulić upozna bolje s trenutačnom momčadi, moguće je da dođe i do promjena u rosteru", - kazao je klupski predsjednik Ante Suton.

Izbor na Vulića pao je iz više razloga, a najvažniji su da je Vulić je već u tri navrata vodio Široki, prvi u sezoni 2003/04. i ostvario povijesni uspjeh osvajanjem dvostruke krune, prvenstva i kupa BiH. Oba trofeja osvojio je u gostima, što je tada u BiH bilo gotovo nezamislivo, kup u Trebinju, a prvenstvo u povijesnoj majstorici pred 9.000 gledatelja u Skenderiji kada je nakon dva produžetka Široki skršio tada vrlo jaku Bosnu. Dvije godine kasnije opet se vratio na klupu Širokog i opet osvojio kup. Treći put je u Širokom vodio omladinski pogon i s njim osvojio također državno prvenstvo, a što je još važnije usmjerio prema prvoj momčadi više igrača.

Službeno predstavljanje Jakše Vulića je u klubu u utorak u 12 sati, a prvu utakmicu s novom momčadi Širokog Vulić će voditi u nedjelju protiv Krke na Pecari.
