Spahija said that "the situation is unsustainable" after the defeat against Cantu which led to the Thursday's meeting with the club's Board. After the meeting it became evident that Neven Spahija leave’s Cibona’s bench and will be replaced by his assistant Slaven Rimac.

As things stand, it seems that the club will keep the entire team. Spahija allegedly sought departures of some players, which was his condition for his stay in the club but his bosses did not want to accept this because Cibona is not able to bring new foreign players  due to FIBA's blockade. Spahija joined the club during summer after 12 seasons spent abroad, where he worked with top clubs like Maccabi, Lietuvos Rytas, Fenerbahce and Valencia.
